Chapter Philanthropy

The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation

The Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation funds impactful programs to enhance the member experience by giving resources for Kappas to succeed at every stage of their lives and to build flourishing communities. The Foundation funds four major areas of impact crucial to Kappas.

The Christopher Lyon's Memorial Fund

Our first philanthropy is The Christopher Lyon's Memorial Fund that Kappa Kappa Gamma has supported for the past few years at Elmhurst University. One of our dearest Kappa alumna's brother, Christopher, passed away due to suicide. He was a student at the Adventist GlenOaks Therapeutic Day School for six years. During his time there, Christopher loved the expressive therapies offered, including art and poetry. The Christopher Lyon's Memorial Fund seeks to support the Therapeutic Day School in their mission to expand expressive therapies to reach more students, like Chris.

Active Minds

Active Minds is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health, especially among young adults, via peer-to-peer dialogue and interaction. Through education, research, advocacy, and a focus on young adults ages 14–25, Active Minds is opening up the conversation about mental health and creating lasting change in the way mental health is talked about, cared for, and valued in the United States. We've held events such as Volley With Kappa!

Magnificent Mutts and Meows Toy & Food Drive

Another local philanthropy our chapter is involved with is Magnificent Mutts and Meows, which is a nonprofit rescue that strives to care for abandoned or neglected dogs and cats and find all breeds happy homes. As a chapter, we have been able to donate and volunteer, such as our recent Mags Mutts and Meows Toy and Food Drive. We were able to gather multiple toys, food, supplies, treats, and even making blankets as a chapter for the recuses!
